Boykini – Bikini Hair removal for Men

April 16, 2011

We love it when a new term is coined.  The latest to be spotted is ‘Boykini’ to represent the male ‘bikini line’ – an area which is getting more attention with the return to popularity of Speedos.

The article I read revealed a trend for Scottish men to tidy up beneath their kilts and get laser hair removal treatment in time for summer.  We all know regular waxing as a means of bikini hair removal is a pain (sorry!), so this trend could be here to stay.

Get rid of unwanted facial hair with IPL

June 15, 2010

Unwanted facial hair can be a real burden for some women and is a common symptom of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). IPL hair removal treatment can effectively remove unwanted hair from the face and body, enabling those affected to rebuild their confidence and feel feminine again.

We were particularly struck by a story published on the BBC website last week of a woman suffering PCOS who constantly carries a razor in her handbag incase the stubble starts to grow back during the day. She also gets up super-early every morning to ensure all her unwanted facial hair has disappeared before her partner wakes up.

This is no way to live and as with this lady, it can be exhausting and crushing on your self worth, femininity and self confidence.

The ‘We Can Face It’ campaign was launched earlier this month, with a host of celebrity faces backing it including small-screen stylist Jason Gardiner and TV doctor Dawn Harper, who together aim to raise awareness of the problem and let sufferers know that help is available.

With fantastic medical and technological advancements, people need no longer suffer in silence. Help is right there if you are ready to confide in a sympathic GP or other organisation, like SkinGenesis, who will treat your case with the utmost respect and privacy it deserves.

Over a series of treatments, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light Therapy) can erradicate unwanted facial hair, leaving you with a smooth, hair-free complexion leaving you to get on with your life. This treatment has increased in popularity over recent years and offers an alternative to hormonal medicines.

The most reputable skin treatment clinics will provide a free consultation to assess the problem and to advise on any treatments that may be suitable for your skin problem. At SkinGenesis, you are then encouraged to have a good think about it and contact us again if it’s something you are interested in. With such sensitive problems, it’s important to us that we put you in control of regaining the confidence you once had.

Hair extensions – the type of hair removal you DON’T want!

February 9, 2010

Tuesday 9th February 2010

People who wear salon applied hair extensions are risking destroying their own hair permanently, says the Trichological Society – who would like a ban on all glued or woven hair extensions.

Many salons across the country now offer a hair extensions service, promising you longer, thicker, luscious locks to make you look like you’ve just stepped off the red carpet.

You might expect to feel like a million dollars once leaving the salon, but what they fail to tell you is that poor quality hair can snag and tangle with brushing, which in turn pulls out your own hair, leaving it permanently damaged. Wear them for prolonged periods of time and the effects can be far worse, leading to baldness and hair loss.

A complete ban might not be the ideal solution – after all, we all like to look and feel good every now and then. Close monitoring and taking regular breaks should ensure that your hair and scalp remain healthy.

Either way, we think we’ll be sticking with the permanent hair removal that is safe – IPL, which is suitable for the legs, bikini, facial hair, underarms, back and chest.

Plastic surgery for world’s hairiest man

October 22, 2009

Thursday 22nd October 2009

The world’s hairiest man has decided to have plastic surgery after failing an audition for the role of his dreams, The Monkey King in a TV adaptation of Journey to the West.

Zu Zhenhuan, 32 from Liaoning auditioned for the part, only to be turned down because he wasn’t ‘good looking enough’. Zu felt he was perfect for the part as 96% of his body is covered in hair and is often nicknamed ‘Monkey Man’.

So now Zu aims to make the producer regret his decision by having surgery to remove his hair and improve the look of his face. He’s already sought the advice of a plastic surgeon who has advised that he has work to widen his eyes, correct his nose, as well as the lips.

There are easier ways to permanently remove hair and give your face a lift. IPL is a wonderous treatment that not only zaps unwanted hair at the root, it can also act as the perfect anti-ageing treatment to keep you looking more beautiful and youthful.

We think Zu should keep his trademark hair and keep looking for alternative roles, without resorting to such extremes as going under the knife in the name of showbiz!

Body hair removal – get rid of annoying body hair forever

August 3, 2009

Monday 3rd August 2009

It’s one of the most annoying things for both men and women and getting rid can be a real chore. IPL body hair removal can help by removing unwanted hair permanently.

In women, body hair can range from fine, but visible hairs on the thighs right through to darker, thicker unwanted hair on the forearms and even other parts of the body and the face.

Most male body hair doesn’t cause a problem, however some men prefer to remove excess hair from their back or chest – particularly if it grows quite thick and dark. IPL can remove hair from large areas using a wider treatment head, so no area is too large.

There are many methods of hair removal around, such as shaving, waxing and sugaring, however the effects of these methods are not very long-lasting. IPL body hair removal can remove hair permanently with a number of treatments.

It works by applying a short burst of light to the hair follical, making it incapable of further growth. It really is as simple as that. The reason you may need to come in for a few treatments is because the hair needs to be ‘zapped’ during its growth stage. If it is dormant, the hair will grow back and will need another treatment. The treatment is very comfortable and can save you money in the long term.

If your body hair is really getting you down, or you’re simply just sick of waxing or shaving your legs, bikini or underarms, maybe it’s time to consider IPL?

WHAT?!! I hear most men say. Shaving? The groin?! Surprisingly, there is quite a large market for hair removal for men.

Facial hair removal has never been more simple

July 20, 2009

Monday 20th July 2009

Excess, unwanted hair on the face can be an embarrassing problem, however facial hair removal has never been simpler thanks to Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) hair removal treatment.

Whether you have a bit too much hair across the top of the lip, or a few noticable longer hairs around the chin area, facial hair removal treatments can give you a smoother, hair-free face and its results are long-lasting.

See what Kuldeep has to say about her hair removal treatments:

Facial hair can arise during pregnancy and due to other hormone imbalances, for example when using HRT. If you are pregnant, you will not be given treatment, however in most other cases, treatment is very simple. It is worth noting that IPL doesn’t work on red, white or grey hair, however most unwanted hair is darker, hence why it causes such a problem.

IPL, often called laser facial hair removal, works by the therapist placing the machine on the affected area to deliver bursts of light from the IPL machine, which heat the hair follicles and make the root incapable of further hair growth. You may need several treatments because IPL only eradicates those hairs that are in the growth stage.

If you are worried or embarrassed by you facial hair and are sick of waxing and bleaching, we do offer a confidential consulation to everyone to assess whether you are compatible with the treatment. There’s absolutely no obligation to go ahead with the treatment, and is available to those who live near or can travel to Leeds, Manchester or Chester for treatment.
