M&S anti-cellulite knickers… haven’t we been here before?

April 29, 2010

M&S have today come under fire after making unproven claims about their new cellulite busting pants… but hang on, haven’t we been here before?

SCALA made similar claims around this time last year after launching their famous hotpants, which claimed to ‘melt away’ fat. You can read our blog post from May 2009 here: Hot pants cellulite treatment

Now forgive us for being a bit cynical, afterall we love to entertain a gimmick or two when it comes along, but if it was really as easy as slipping on a pair of knickers to combat the problem that affects up to 90% of women in the UK, there wouldn’t be a problem, would there?

Cellulite is a complex body condition and it’s unlikely that there will ever be a permanent cure.

The M&S knickers, as described on the website, make it sound so easy, listing ingredients such as: “Caffeine, to slim and tone; Vitamin E, to help protect against ageing; and soothing Aloe Vera, to smooth. These are held in place by millions of micro-bubbles, then released onto your skin as you move.”

If only it was that simple! It really isn’t and if you definitely want to get rid of cellulite, it comes through hours of exercise, eating healthily and drinking water – and that’s just for starters. Mesotherapy is also a fantastic natural cellulite treatment that helps mobilise the fat and reduce the lumpy, orange peel effects that are so common on womens legs and bottoms.

A quick fix these undergarments might provide, but if you’re looking for a more long-term cellulite solution that will work, it’s probably best to consult an expert and look further afield than your usual local shopping haunts.

Here’s an example of one of our clients, who was 35 at the time of treatment. The results speak for themselves:

Cellulite treatment for bank holiday spa-goers

April 28, 2010
Cellulite treatment - After

Cellulite treatment - After

Cellulite treatment - Before

With a few bank holiday weekends on the horizon, a city spa-break with the girls might be just what the doctor ordered, but is the thought of sporting a onepiece and flashing the thighs clouding this otherwise blissful (and might i say brilliant) idea?

Cellulite is the bane of many women’s lives, affecting up to 90% of the UK female population. Many people have tried and tested every single fat-busting cream under the sun, and still it sits there, all lumpy and orange-peel-like, making you reach for the linen trousers in summer instead of that new bikini.

Whilst some creams can help, the effects are usually short-lived, which doesn’t offer much value for money.

Eporex cellulite treatment is the only treatment that addresses the fundamental causes of cellulite, which occurs when skin tissue is weakened coupled with the pressure of pockets of fat. This causes the sunken, dimply texture.

Also called mesotherapy, the treatment gets to the root of the problem and simultaneously strengthens and firms the skin while dispersing the micro-pockets of subcutaneous fat.  This gives the skin a lovely healthy, even, toned appearance.

How does Cellulite Reduction Treatment work when people tell me you can’t get rid of cellulite?

The treatment introduces concentrated amounts of more than a dozen natural vitamins, minerals and amino acids  into the subcutaneous fat layer where cellulite exists.  These non-toxic ingredients already exist in the body in small quantities or there are enzymes within the body that act in the same way.

They all have vital functions and one of the key ingredients is an organic mineral that corrects irregular tissue in the body including the hardened tissue that has trapped fats and fluids from circulating normally and shows up as cellulite.

Other ingredients make the local fat more easily burnt as energy by the body and stimulate the cells, providing them with the necessary ingredients to function correctly.

The treatment comes with the unique SkinGenesis guarantee and the before and after shots above are of our own 35 year old client.

It costs from £75 per treatment, with a typical course lasting 7 weeks. We have offers on our mesotherapy treatments at the moment (April/May 2010) so book your free consultation now and see if we could help you look gorgeous this summer, and get ready to hit those spas!

So will it be Budapest? Iceland? Turkey? Take your pick!

Fat reduction technique: Eat Seaweed to fight the flab

March 22, 2010

Everyone is always saying how friendly those geordies are, and scientists at Newcastle University would go to the bottom of the ocean and back to help tackle obesity – and guess what?! They have!

Forget swapping your Cadburys for carrot sticks. And ditching your car in favour of the bike every morning. Seaweed could hold the answer to all our prayers when it comes to avoiding obesity.

Seaweed fibres could soon be added to foods that are regularly consumed, such as bread and biscuits, which apparently reduces the body’s fat uptake by up to 75%, which, as the BBC reports, is better than some anti-obesity programmes.

But before you go and get your snorkel, you might want to wait until it’s all tried and tested. The findings are currently in the trial and development process, but we reckon they could be onto a major breakthrough here if successful. How fantastic would it be to know that you’re actually helping your body by eating carb-laden products like bread?!

In the meantime, if you want a fat reduction boost while you’re waiting, why not have a look at mesotherapy? This technique dates back years and was originally developed in Paris. The results speak for themselves and all our clients speak very highly of it. And so do we.

With the summer season just around the corner, now is the perfect time to give it a whirl – and then you’ll be in shape to dive in for that seaweed!

Thinking about fat reduction? Big bums & hips are healthy, apparently

January 13, 2010

Wednesday 13th January 2010

Just as we all get really enthusiastic about our new found diets, someone else throws a spanner in the works and tells us that big bums, thighs and hips are in fact actually healthy! So who are we meant to believe?!

First the scaremongerers are shouting about an ‘obesity epidemic’ (or at least you would think it was, the way they can go on) and now ‘experts’ are telling us to keep our fat! Confusing!

The theory is that people who carry a little more weight around the bums, hips and thigh region are more protected against heart and metabolic problems, with the fat supposedly there to ‘mop up’ harmful fatty acids and protect against blocked arteries. (BBC story here)

We are going to give you some sensible advice: maintain a healthy balance. We all know that Rik Waller was never meant to be a size 10, however it is a good idea to keep an eye on what you eat and how big your portions are. As long as you eat healthily, enjoy fruit and veg as part of your diet and exercise a couple of times per week, then it should be safe to say that you will remain healthy, big bum or not.

Of course we all have our ‘fat days’, but if you’re wondering how you can supplement your diet and exercise regime, to ensure that you get rid of any excess fat, there are some non-surgical, natural cosmetic fat reduction treatments that can give your weightloss a boost.

Clean & Clear ad banned for hiding shiny acne skin

January 6, 2010

Wednesday 6th January 2010

The ASA (Advertising Standards Agency) has banned an advert from Clean & Clear after it used make-up in its adverts that claimed to clear acne.

It said the before and after shots should have been taken in the same conditions to ensure a fair representation to consumers. The advertising agency responsible for the advert then admitted to using a ‘light powder foundation to hide shininess around the T-zone’.

We’re getting a bit tired of reading about dishonest adverts that mislead people into buying products that won’t necessarily work for them. Here at SkinGenesis we provide all our clients with honest, professional advice on skin treatments and never promise ‘perfect skin’, because in the real world, nobody’s skin is perfect.

Instead we aim to provide a programme of treatments that is tailored to your skin type and skin complaint to make sure you get the best possible result. Whether it’s acne treatment, wrinkles, thread vein removal or cellulite reduction, we can treat all kinds of skin problems.

All we would say is don’t trust adverts, don’t expect too much from high street products and try not to waste too much money on trying different solutions. Why not take advantage of our free expert skin analysis so that you can make an informed decision on the products you use?

Fat reduction could lead to a boob job!

September 15, 2009

Tuesday 15th September 2009

The words on everyone’s lips in the cosmetic surgery world is that ‘natural’ boob jobs are on the rise, where surgeons use the excess fat from your thighs, bum and tum and inject it into your boobs to give them a lift.

How simple!

Of course, as with anything else, there are always risks and this is no exception. It’s also a procedure that is still in its infancy, so think twice before you rush down to Harley Street and do your research. Ask questions, get second opinions and think carefully before you take the plunge.

An expert on GMTV this morning was echoing the same concerns, whilst also remarking that this new kind of breast augmentation could give you a more natural look than artificial implants. So it’s something to keep your eye on for the future if you fancy getting a smaller waist AND bigger boobs!

In the meantime, if you would like to lose a few inches here and there, it might be worth taking a look at the fat reduction treatments that are available – all tried and tested already, therefore perfectly safe.

Calorific drinks that lead to targeted fat reduction

September 3, 2009

Wednesday 2nd September 2009

Those who enjoy a daily Starbucks, lunchtime Coke and an afternoon smoothie, then a beer after work may want to think again if they’re trying to keep their figure.

Office workers especially like to indulge in tasty drinks and snacks when they’re sat at their desk, but i think you would be shocked by how many calories there are in some of the nation’s favourite drinks.

But fear not, as there is a light at the end of the fatty coffee tunnel – in the name of Eporex mesotherapy, targeted fat reduction.

MSN did a great article which listed some of the most fattening drinks – some of which you thought were good for you. Take a look below:

  • Starbucks’s Dark Berry Mocha Frappuccino – over 560 calories
  • Long Island Ice Tea – a whopping 780 calories!
  • Pina Colada – just under 650 calories
  • Stella – 220 calories in a pint
  • Large McDonalds Milkshake – over 580 calories – might as well just have a burger!
  • Can of Coke – 139 calories, better to opt for the Diet Coke or Zero
  • Smoothies – can contain as much as 450 calories, however are also packed with lots of goodness, so we’ll let them off.

Fat Reduction Could Benefit Apple Shaped Women at Risk From Asthma

August 25, 2009

Tuesday 25th August 2009

Research has shown that apple-shaped women could be more at risk of developing asthma.

Women with a waistline of 88cm or more, even those who have a normal body weight, could develop breathing problems such as asthma. It was a study that was carried out on over 88,000 women, meaning results and findings are potentially quite significant.

But before you all rush out for quick liposuction fix, we are urging people not to go under the knife in a bid to shed the pounds and risk your health further. Natural methods of fat reduction are available, such as mesotherapy and can leaving you looking slimmer in a matter of weeks.

Eporex mesotherapy is what we use at SkinGenesis and traditional mesotherapy is the prefered way to get rid of fat amongst Parisien women in particular, where it has been popular for over 60 years.

Through isophoresis, it works by non-invasively introducing natural compounds of minerals underneath the skin, which helps to get stored fat deposits moving and improve the body’s metabolism. There’s no need for needles, knifes or scars like traditional mesotherapy, in fact it can feel quite therapeutic!

Take a look at the before and afters below, and why not watch what Lewis has to say about his fat reduction treatments on YouTube?
