Hubble Bubble Toil and Wart Removal Trouble

October 29, 2009

Thursday 29th October 2009

It’s almost Halloween and we are raising awareness of the prevalence of skin warts – not just on the chins of those dressing up as witches!

Warts are small, harmless benign tumours of the skin caused by the human papilloma virus, affecting thousands of people year-round with few treatments delivering a lasting effect.

With a scary ability to spread and manifest anywhere on the body, warts more commonly appear on highly visible areas such as the face, hands and feet.

Specialist treatments like VPL (variable pulsed light) therapy have been developed as powerful, new-generation wart removal techniques, effective after just several treatments. Lotions and potions bought over the counter can either be risky or have a minimal effect.

Peter Beard, skin expert and director at SkinGenesis, said: “Warts are commonly associated with witches and Halloween, so October is the perfect chance to raise awareness of them and show what can be done to treat warts once and for all.

“There are plenty of concoctions and creams out there that claim to freeze your warts, however they can often return and people end up back to where they started. VPL literally gets to the core of the problem and after just a couple of treatments, people can walk away with smooth skin and much more confidence.”

Wart removal treatment costs a single fixed price of £225, regardless of how many treatments are needed.

As if by magic, after just several VPL treatments, the whole body can be wart-free in a matter of weeks by targeting only one or two growths, regardless of how many others you may have.

Topical products containing salicylic acid must be used with caution as they can damage the surrounding skin. A doctor may alternatively freeze warts using liquid nitrogen or surgical methods, which can both result in scarring.

Common warts typically appear on the hands and are grey or flesh coloured and have a raised structure. Plantar warts are harder to treat as they grow into the skin appearing on the soles of the feet, whilst flat warts often grow on the face and hands and can spread rapidly.

VPL wart removal treatment eradicates warts quickly and safely with no risk of secondary infection. It works by delivering a high energy thermal shock deep inside the wart causing the casing to break. This in turn causes the body’s immune system to respond by creating antibodies that will have an antiviral effect on warts all over the body.

Dermal fillers for TV chef Gordon Ramsay

October 27, 2009

Tuesday 27th October 2009

It seems the stress of shouting and swearing at his sous chefs has finally taken its toll on TV chef Gordon Ramsay after he admits to having dermal fillers in his chin.

The lines we all call ‘laughter lines’ obviously got too much for poor old Gordo and after listening to the advice of a certain high-trousered X-Factor judge, he decided to have a filler inserted into his chin to hide the deep set wrinkles we’ve all got to know him for.

Good on him we say. He’s out there in spotlight, he’s cracked America, why not? It just goes to show that dermal fillers are not just for girls!

Wii Fit Plus officially tackles obesity and aids fat reduction

October 26, 2009

Nintendo’s Wii Fit Plus is the first video game to be given the Department of Health’s stamp of approval in a bid to tackle Britain’s increasing obesity problem.

Wii Fit Plus is the first of it’s kind to carry the ‘Change4Life’ logo, which shows that it is officially a great way to ‘get kids moving’.

The recommended exercise time for kids is about 60 minutes per day, which is easily achievable with such a fun and interactive game. It makes exercise fun and no longer a chore, which is why we think it’s going to be great for adults too.

In fact, those who have targeted fat reduction treatments with us will know that in order to get the best value for money, you must engage in regular exercise following mesotherapy treatments. People who do exercise will notice a dramatic difference in their fatloss than those who don’t bother and simply just rely on treatments.

And not only will you be slimmer and trimmer, you’ll also release all those lovely endorphins that fly around the body following an exercise routine, which will leave you in a fabulous mood for the rest of the day!

We predict that Santa will be getting loads of requests for Wii Fit Plus and fat reduction treatments this Christmas!

Plastic surgery for world’s hairiest man

October 22, 2009

Thursday 22nd October 2009

The world’s hairiest man has decided to have plastic surgery after failing an audition for the role of his dreams, The Monkey King in a TV adaptation of Journey to the West.

Zu Zhenhuan, 32 from Liaoning auditioned for the part, only to be turned down because he wasn’t ‘good looking enough’. Zu felt he was perfect for the part as 96% of his body is covered in hair and is often nicknamed ‘Monkey Man’.

So now Zu aims to make the producer regret his decision by having surgery to remove his hair and improve the look of his face. He’s already sought the advice of a plastic surgeon who has advised that he has work to widen his eyes, correct his nose, as well as the lips.

There are easier ways to permanently remove hair and give your face a lift. IPL is a wonderous treatment that not only zaps unwanted hair at the root, it can also act as the perfect anti-ageing treatment to keep you looking more beautiful and youthful.

We think Zu should keep his trademark hair and keep looking for alternative roles, without resorting to such extremes as going under the knife in the name of showbiz!

‘Stop the age clock at 50’ – scientific anti ageing treatment

October 21, 2009

Wednesday 21st October 2009

We heard the other week that babies of the future will live until 100, and beyond, but now scientists at Leeds University have revealed exciting new science that can literally stop the ageing process at 50!

Initial research has shown that 50 year olds can look forward to a very active future through groundbreaking scientific methods of providing people with own-grown tissues and durable implants to prevent rejection.

It will start off with new hips, knees and heart valves, but the BBC reports that researchers fully envisage the upgrade of all other parts of the body that lose their beauty with age – including the face.

Does this mean that there will eventually be a way of stopping the clock? It looks promising and any bit of scientific research that yields interesting results like this is great news to us.

In the meantime, if you’re wondering how you can slow down the ageing process, take a look at the wonderful medi-spa anti ageing treatments available, such as IPL, microdermabrasion, Botox, skin peels and our personal favourite, SkinGym – younger skin in 40 days, guaranteed.

Naked airport security scans will see many opting for fat reduction!

October 13, 2009

Tuesday 13th October 2009

Manchester airport has installed new, state-of-the-art human x-ray machines at its security check areas, which produce a ‘naked’ picture of those who are scanned by it.

At first we thought this would be a massive breach of privacy and rather intrusive! However when you think about it, we all have that element of doubt when boarding a plane. And to be honest the traditional ‘frisk’ method of patting potential weapon wielders down to catch them in the act, doesn’t quite fill me with reassurance.

The new scanners will show up any weapon or explosive that people may be hiding underneath their layers of clothing. In recent times, we can only welcome such methods to ensure the safety of the majority who simply want to fly away to exotic locations!

Sure they produce a so-called ‘naked’ picture of you, but head of customer experience at Manchester Airport cannot stress enough that this is in the interests of passenger safety and images will be destroyed immediately after being checked.

Of course as skin and body experts, we don’t think hitting beach will be the only worry on people’s minds when they think about dieting for their winter holidays! To keep in top shape and to look good on Manchester Airport’s new scanners (!), we think more people will be considering having targeted fat reduction by mesotherapy!

Is Botox a miracle drug? Or just for anti-ageing?

October 9, 2009

Friday 9th october 2009

We’re all aware of the fantastic anti-ageing properties of Botox, but recent articles and research suggest that it could be much more of wonder drug than we initially thought!

We wrote a blog post last year detailing how Sharon Stone risked losing custody of her son because she wanted to inject his feet with Botox to stop them smelling. We don’t really know whether Botox actually works on foot odour, however it was one of the first in a string of other possible uses for this popular anti-ageing product.

In fact rumour has it that a Canadian doctor stumbled across the drug’s face-lifting qualities by accident while treating a patient for a muscle spasm in the eye. The patient then asked to continue receiving treatments because of its fantastic anti-ageing ability!

Other reported uses for Botox include:

  • Reducing migraines and tension headaches
  • Excess perspiration
  • Foot odour
  • Muscle response disorders

However, before you go rushing out and having Botox injections in the hope it will cure all your complaints, you MUST MUST MUST have Botox administered by a reputable practitioner who has lots of experience. All cosmetic treatments carry risks and unless done properly, Botox is no exception.

Do your research, because there are many therapists out there who have limited experience – people can now go on a one-day Botox course and be qualified!
