Don’t let acne crush your confidence, expert acne treatment

When acne gets out of control, it’s easy to think you’ve let it get too far and that there’s nothing you can do to make it look better. ‘Just make it go away’ one client once said to us. You may have tried every topical cream and pill under the face of the sun and the acne has just kept coming back to haunt you, but it’s important not to let it crush your confidence. There are remedies out there that work –  you just have to find the one that’s right for you.

Andrea Watson is an actress who suffered from acne and eventually it really got her down. In fact it bothered her so much that she eventually stopped putting herself forward for parts as she was so conscious about how her skin looked. She finally realised that the acne wasn’t going to vanish by itself, so she decided to do something about it. You can watch Andrea’s acne treatment story here.

There are plenty of treatments out there and depending on the severity of your acne and your skintype, others will work more effectively than others. For the odd spot we would advise using a mild cleanser and a topical acne cream, which are  available from the chemist over the counter. Take care not to jump into using one that’s too strong for your skin, as most creams have a drying effect on the skin and allergic reactions and rashes can develop. It’s far better to help your skin get used to any new treatment by working your way up.

Another way to treat acne is to consult your GP. They may provide you with a course of antibiotics which kill off the bacteria that’s causing the acne from deep within. There are many different pills out there, so your doctor will know which ones will be best for you. They may even refer you to a dermatologist, especially if you find that nothing is working.

The third method of treating acne is to pay a visit to clinic that specialises in skin, as they will tailor a programme to suit your individual skin. Acne treatments can vary from Intense pulsed light (IPL), microdermabrasion, anti-bacterial skin peels and other home care, specially formulated products. So there really is a range of options available to you…

If you are confused by any of the above or want more information, drop us a comment below and our experts at SkinGenesis will be glad to advise you and clear anything up. Now get back your confidence, just like Andrea, and look forward to a flawless skin!
