As the food police continue to warn us about unbalanced diets it’s easy to introduce changes that do, in fact, upset the balance. One such piece of ‘advice’ is the Low Fat Diet.
Backing by powerful organisations such as the British Heart Foundation means that the apparent wisdom of a low fat diet has been accepted by many people. But to get the message over to the public at large there has been some unhelpful simplification to the point where a lot of people are compromising their wellbeing by cutting out all fats, including the healthy fats. Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) are not billed as ‘Essential’ for nothing.
